Barrie Furnace Maintenance Tips

Changing your furnace filter is a vital compnent in good air quality, and is an important element in maintaining a furnace that functions well.gas-furnace-burner-maintenance

Dirt is the biggest enemy of your home’s heating and cooling system.  Having a dirt clogged air system will waste fuel and drastically lower efficiency.

Dirt affects all three basic components of the system, so cleaning is the most important part of regular maintenance. Lubrication and belt adjustment at the furnace are also important.

Make sure the unit is receiving power. Look for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers at the main entrance panel. Some furnaces have a separate power entrance, usually located at a different panel near the main entrance panel. Some furnaces have fuses mounted in or on the unit.

With our Maintenance Plans you will have the piece of mind that comes with knowing that you’re equipment will stay running smoothly without costing you an arm and a leg!

Humidifiers are Good for Your Health

Proper humidification combined with air purification can significantly improve the indoor air quality of your home or office.
General-1042-Humidifier
With better air quality you can breathe easy while your air system combats the negative effects of dry air and dehydration while enabling the body’s immune system to better defend itself against harmful germs.

Dry Air is one of the major causes of respiratory infections, nose bleeds and repeated episodes of winter colds. A lack of moisture can prevent your body’s immune system from repelling infection causing germs, and can actually promote the growth of some bacteria, viruses, and respiratory irritants.

Proper humidification allows you to maintain a comfortable living environment, while protecting your investments, and eliminating static shock.

Conditioning the amount of moisture in the air is necessary to maintain comfort. Optimal comfort is considered to be achieved at 45-65% humidity. Most homes heated to 73 degrees can have a relative humidity approaching 15%.

These are just some of the symptoms of living in air that is too dry.

A humidifier can help to relieve these symptoms and allow you to set your thermostat lower and still be comfortable.

The following are the ideal relative humidity levels for different situations:

The most comfortable relative humidity for the human body 45-65%RH
Ideal relative humidity for prophylactic and curative purposes 40-50%RH
Computer and telecom apparatuses 45-65%RH
Furniture and musical instruments 40-60%RH
Libraries (books), art galleries and museums 40-60%RH

For more information about Humidifiers give us a call at (705) 431-2822 & (705) 792-7628 or fill out our contact form.

We accept payment by Visa, Cash, Check, or right on your monthly Enbridge bill.

APCO UV Air Cleaners

apco-uv-air-cleanersAPCO UV Air Cleaners are an excellent way to keep the healthy air in your home.

How APCO works:

The APCO unit removes airborne contaminants as the air is circulated by the central air system. Airborne microbes and volatile organic compounds (odor molecules) are captured by the APCO activated carbon matrix and held in place by the microscopic structure.

UV-C light shining on the APCO activated carbon matrix causes a photocatalytic reaction which transforms odor molecules into harmless water vapor and CO2 which are released into the air stream. Mold, germs, and viruses are also sterilized by the UV light on the matrix and in the air as they pass by.

APCO Air Cleaner Wins an Innovation Award

A panel of industry professionals, selected for their knowlwdge and expertise in HVACR has chosen the Fresh-Aire APCO In-Duct Air Purifier as winner of the 2011 AHR Expo Innovation Award in the category of Indoor Air Quality.
